Can you be in love with someone who isn't there?
A ghost some would say
Someone you've built up in your mind
Who couldn't possibly exist as you've imagined her
Is it conceivable she is better than anything you've ever see or heard?
It could just be all in your head.
The flirtations could just be innocent remarks between friends.
There is no way she looks at you the way you look at her.
You make the excuse, "Maybe she's that way with all her friends."
When you catch her watching you then smiles her dazzling smile, maybe a little too long
When you catch her staring
It's hard to decipher, to read her
You don't want to look to much into something
Things could get ruined
So you don't pay much need to the little touches and lingering glances
In fact you don't notice at all
Or you do, but you think you're imaging it
Chalking it all up to how much you like this girl
How beautiful and intelligent she is
How she makes your heart flutter without knowing it
You're afraid she'll find out you feel this way
So you keep everything inside
Because you think you shouldn't love her
You don't think it's wrong, but
You believe she's not into that type of relationship
Initially that was what you felt
But her touches last longer than they were before
Her eyes no longer linger but watch your every move
When she hugs you she caresses you and hold you close
Seemingly not wanting to let go of you
Still you thin this has to do with how much closer you have gotten with her
You don't want it to be too good to be true
That she could possibly feel the say way
Then again she has been acting really different lately
Spending more time with you as of late
Getting angry when you are with others who are interested in you
Grabbing your hand at random times and holding it tightly
Eventually you call her on her actions
She just shrugs and takes your hand
Somehow in that letting you know she is into you and she isn't that ghost you thought she was
She is a girl who is very real
She exists
And is better than your imagination
Somehow better than what you built up
Because this is real and this is happening and she is yours
All yours
