Wet Shoes
Grey skies and wet sidewalks.
I walked home alone.
My hood shielded my face,
as cars zoomed by.
My hands buried deep in my pockets, searching for warmth.
My eyes fixed on the sidewalk as cracked as my heart.
A hand came down gently on my frozen shoulder and electrified me with excitement.
I turned and it was you.
Blocking the rain from my face, and fixing the holes in my heart.
You held me tight.
Warming my toes.
You walked me home, and I was never cold again.
