Given Enough Time
Given enough time
Our memories become
Images we can't tell whether
We experienced
Or made up
I remember thinking
I could just sit
In the warmth
Of you your glow
Content in your firm embrace
Forever
Forever is something
I've promised before
Your hot breath
On the nape of my neck
Still haunts me
Your ghost is everywhere
We've switched roles
You and I
You tug your freedom
I tug the blame
I won't let go
What is left
Is a metaphor of what was
What I believe still could be
But you chose to forget
You pay no mind
To the pain
When you forget
The waves look like
Upon the rocks
When you can't remember
The sounds of the storm
I'm feeling the pull
The only proof
All that I have
Is the bleeding
The burning but faded memories
The distance
Images I think I've made up
Given enough time
