Change
I dreamt a dream
to see myself as
others see.
I thought myself
washed and wise,
blameless and bright.
Yet to gaze upon myself
as only they see
was not impressing.
For eyes tell
loathsome lies
of past demise.
The past is all they see.
Who you were,
not who you are.
Because
our eyes are open,
our minds are blind,
to the possibility of
change in
human kind.
