Bedcloth
I never used to wash the sheets after you left
I made a point of letting them be
So that for nights after you had gone I could revel in where you had been
I could drink in this smell of hair and sweat and alone in that air close the distance between what you said and how I felt
Now I wash the sheets
Carelessly tear away each pieces of linen
Before bleaching it crisp once more
And starting over again
