Brain Surgery
a quick slash
of a scalpel
and my skull is cut
clean
I remove
my bowl-shaped
lid
and set it carefully aside
next, I must remove
the brain
with white-gloved
dancing fingers
I set the curiosity
in front of me
as I watch
the little plastic girl
frozen
in pink jello
banging on the walls
of my mind
I use pliers to
hack
through the hamburger meat
of a brain and
dethrone
her ever so carefully
she comes to life
like the drugstore
dinosaurs
you put in warm water
to watch them
grow
"time out" I yell,
but I'm the one
who sounds like a
toddler
she sulks
into the corner,
laughing a
wicked laugh
blood oozing
from her eyes,
slop
seeping from her open mouth
I have so many
questions
for this little plastic girl
who has taken
hostage
of my mind
but I need not ask,
because she knows
all
and it all just
makes her laugh
"silly girl" she
sings
"we both know
if you really wanted me
out
you would
have found a way"
