“If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?”-Rabbi Hillel

I am a bird on a wire,
that watches the world below.
I have no destination,
With no real place to go.

I simply take a moment,
to remove myself from the sky,
and land upon this wire,
to watch tome go by.

I open up my throat,
and sing the only song I know.
This wire is my perch,
as the world listens below.

I sing out my heart and soul.
I share to the world my voice,
In hopes that someone will hear and
recognize the sound with silent rejoice.

I spread my wings
and meet the open sky.
In this place I leave behind apart of me,
and alone I fly.

I have no destination,
with no real place to go,
but I sing my lonely tune,
in hopes to make a heart glow.

And to me that makes my lonesome journey worth every mile,

just to see a smile.

I am a bird on a wire.

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem as an extended metaphor. The bird is me wanting to spread kindness even if it is noticed only for the smallest moment. I just never know when I can make a difference in someone's life, so I keep chirping.

Thanks so much. That really means a lot to me;) I will note what you said about the rhythm , which is what I usually struggle with in my poetry. I will read something of yours too.

Great job! The rhyme sceme worked very well in the poem. I did get caught in few places, when dealing with rhythm, but that very well could have been my overloaded brain having a tantrum. Anyways, I really enjoyed reading this, and I liked the meaning that you incorporated into this flawlessly. BRAVO!
