So Red
Red is the color of roses,
rubies
and skin that has seen too much sun.
The color of apples,
lipstick
and the color of hearts.
The color of ambulance lights,
shocking the darkness of the night
the same way you did.
Red, the color of nightmares
of blood spilling onto the floor,
your demons going with it.
That fateful night,
you bled so red.
Your tears,
your face, your eyes
bloodshot, red.
Red, at the sleeve of your shirt,
on the bed where you lie,
you’re tainted forever
by the things you have done
and the red stains you have left behind.
