The Man of Ice
Winter is fleeting,
And so is my love,
For you, my fickle friend.
Your apathy bites like frost -
Your contempt like a bitter breeze.
I shan't face your countenance
Lest your icy eyes freeze my very senses
And overwhelm them with your arresting gaze.
How cruel a life t'would be to live in your prison!
I dare not even conceive the thought.
For to look at you with unbridled affection
Could only serve to mar this heart,
The single thing I've kept safe from seizure.
Halt, now, your magnetizing flurries
And icicles of lure,
For no woman yearns for a man of ice.
