A room with two beds,
And one girl living in it.
Why should a room have two beds
And only one occupant?
A silvery mylar balloon
Sits in the middle of the room,
And in the middle of the night,
It reflects the traffic light.
Red green red,
Go to bed.
Which bed?
I’m not sure.
As sure as death
Will come.
I’m sure
Two beds should have two girls,
Two living bodies,
Not one.

A room with two beds,
And one girl living in it.
A bookshelf tight
And painted white,
With more books
Than one girl
Could ever read.
A picture frame,
It sits atop,
A careless thought.
I near forgot
there were two girls in it.
One photo frame: Two girls.
Two beds: One girl.
Two beds should have two girls,
Not one.

A room with two beds,
And one girl living in it.
A closet full of clothes
That fall to the floor,
And block the door.
The doorlock broke;
The clothes are welcomed.
Two beds should have two girls,
Not one.
