Reminiscence
I kept seeing your face the other day
Against the trees, painted grey
Maybe it hurts, but I wanted it to stay
Just like your smile, it fell away
I closed my eyes, but there it was
Your hair undone, as light as dust
Your lips whispering words of trust
It was all there, just because
I tried to stop you from coming back
Into my dreams, I was about to crack
I didn’t deserve you even then in fact
When all of your virtue, I seem to lack
You said goodbye before I could say goodnight
After all this time, I can see that you were right
For flying away when I was holding you tight
A sadistic view, what a wretched sight
I used to curse at all your promises broken
But now I can stand with my eyes opened
Without wishing you would fall in torment
I hope for someone to catch you in that moment
