The Old Guitarist
ALONE
The man is as alone as the moon without its stars
The white round circle casts down, making your skin transparent
Where is your home? Where do you belong?
He strums that old guitar
The battered instrument somehow keeps all six strings
And through the creak of the closing shops’ shutters
You can hear him mumble in his warbly rasp
ALONE
Do you not have a friend or pet?
You appear as a ghost with your distanced eyes of steel
Scratched up and bruised like a whipping boy
Your tattered clothes barely covering you
Why are you all alone?
You stick to the shadows as if its’ your second skin
And the street lamps have faded, all but one
ALONE
