The Bravest Thing
Who knew
Someone like you,
Someone I've known forever,
Someone I've never noticed;
Could make me let down
My walls. I'd set them up to keep me safe and sound,
In my solitude,
And lost within myself.
Hiding,
Deciding.
I was ok with being alone,
If it meant things wouldn't get messy.
I thought I was daring,
Adventurous,
Numb to fear.
But this is the bravest thing
I've ever tried:
Leaving my heart on the line;
And letting you in.
