perfect
last night:
wrapped in your
sinewy arms,
lined with blue tendrils
snaking up and down
your tattooed forearms,
i felt the prickling
of goose bumps
crawling all over
my onion white
arms, limp
compared to yours—
there were
stars dappling
the night skies:
amethyst, turquoise,
pearl, and beryl—
suddenly i didn’t
feel so self-conscious
of the pale freckles
dotting my skin
like an exploding
nebula across
a faux-albino canvas;
and when your lips,
full and blushed nude
but mischievously crooked,
brushed against
my bare neck,
the hairs stood,
electrified and on guard,
as you whispered
“perfect”
