Don't tell me feminism is stupid
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
when walking down the street is like waking past vultures.
Confidence being torn from me, shame replacing it.
Shame of my body,
shame of my clothing,
shame of being female.
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
when I will make less money than my male co-workers,
for the same quality and amount of work.
Female,
less important,
less smart,
less money.
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
when so many women cannot open up about sexual harassment and rape because of victim shaming.
"She asked for it."
"She was drunk."
I am a human, you are a human
and we are anything but objects to be taken advantage of.
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
when millions of women and girls are sold around the world for their bodies.
Women and girls who can't get out.
Women and girls who have been reduced to dirt,
feeling like nothing even though they're everything.
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
when millions of girls go through genital mutation.
Their body and minds shamed,
for being born with something a man does not have.
Their sexuality stolen.
Don't tell me feminism is stupid
for without it I would not be where I am today.
My mind and body would not be my own.
Feminism is empowering.
I am gaining strength,
you are gaining strength,
and the world is gaining strength.
All because of feminism.
