For School Tomorrow...
For school tomorrow...
I need my
books and backpack,
and lunch,
wait.
No lunch.
I stopped having lunch awhile ago.
I need my homework,
my phone,
In case someone would call someone like me,
Even on accident.
I need my outfit,
specially picked,
taking hour after hour.
Sneakers of course in case I need a getaway,
I'll need to be able to run.
I can't wear yoga pants,
Because if you have underwear lines it's not socially acceptable.
I can't wear shorts because I haven't the legs for it.
Jeans are the safest bet.
They don't judge you as much.
I can't forget a belt,
to hold my pants on hips
that once filled out the waistline.
T-shirts and tangtops won't work.
Unless I have a hoodie to hide,
old scars,
and newly cut scars.
A watch to count the time
Until I can escape the horrid place
They call a learning ground.
Learning how much the world hates you more like it.
Oh!
I almost forgot.
My most important thing I need
for school tomorrow,
Is a smile.
Even if I have to fake it.
I always have to fake it.
Paste that smile on and no one suspects,
I'm hurting.
I'm losing a battle against the world.
No, I have a good smile to show the world.
I have a crinkly eye-twinkling smile,
and a laughter to complete it.
I wish it was real.
I have all my supplies,
my outfit,
and my smile
that will never falter.
