As The Years Go By
Age six. I stared out the window,
Praying, hoping we would meet again.
I knew that was not true though,
You do not know how hard this has been.
Age 12. I wanted to run away.
It was still so difficult to accept.
I was filled with misery and dismay.
You do not know how hard I wept.
Age 17. The pain is too much.
Are you missing me too?
All I need is to feel your touch.
Please, I'm begging you; come home.
