disrespect
“Stop talking back
you clearly lack
in respect” they told me.
But they couldn't see
the new me. My disrespect was a mistake
but now they all hate
the clothes that I wear
and the colors in my hair
They said “child it isn't fine
to cross this line”.
They say I haven't tried to change
because I dress out of range.
I’ve already apologized for my disrespect,
but now my clothes must connect
with my new tone of voice
but is that not my choice
to decide what to wear?
I can still be successful with dyed hair.
But never was I shown any appreciation,
They do this to our generation.
Until I begin to resemble everyone,
But now I am done.
I was just trying to be me
So I’ll be who I'm “supposed to be”
and I hope you are happy
that forever 21 vomited on me.
