Losing
There sits an anchor at the bottom of my soul,
deepening the jagged wound tearing at my flesh
they like to call despondence.
Silence is my only company tonight, and
maybe it knows I never meant to be the one
to hear your dying breath
But peering into those cold empty irises, I
don't think I'll ever come to believe there is no
life left to reflect back.
And as you shut your eyes and say goodnight to the
world for the last time, the world will realize not
only did you leave, but a part of me vanquished, too.
