Love Games
Love is a game for dreamers;
that’s why I never sleep.
Since all I know is nightmares,
I just lay here counting sheep.
Love is in no way easy.
But that’s what makes is real.
If you never get your heart broken
you’ll never learn to feel.
But love is not the safest game.
It’s a gamble; that much is true.
And I’d go home empty-handed
rather than bet on you.
Since cheating is discouraged,
(and I was never good at counting cards),
I’d rather not take all those chances.
I’d rather not let down my guard.
So I wouldn’t bother trying
to knock down these stone walls.
For, they are my protection.
They will not let me fall.
But if you do not heed my warning,
I pity you good sir.
For, I’m afraid a broken heart
Is not possible to cure.
