Black Lives Matter
Do you remember the time,
When my words meant more than a rhyme?
Coming from the “fair skinned maid” to the darker women laid? Out in the field beaten to death by the men who raped them and didn’t give them a breath,
to sit back and think on the many things that led up to the countless stings of a hand with rings
You say this was years ago right?
But why does my skin get tight when i think of the night that i witnessed the sight of a black man being murdered by a white?
IT’S NOT RACISM! IT’S PURELY JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT HE WAS BLACK!
A coincidence indeed that we learned how to read
to write
and teach ourselves how to live THE COLORED PEOPLE LIFE
But did we take advantage of it right?
Bright
Leaders
Against
Controlled
Knowledge
King dreamt of Equality
love and peace…
yet we have black on black crime
in its prime time.
Don’t get me wrong, a black man is president
but we have come to ignore
what’s extremely relevant.
Yay! Osama Bin Laden is dead!
but are the hungry mouths in our cities being fed?
WOO! The war is over!
But why is Katy Perry’s performance getting
more exposure than the unbelievable foreclosures
in cities getting black people “makeovers”
Being BLACK is more than a color
You say n**** I say brother
You say “sorry” I say “you insincere son of a mother”
Then we fight
feeding into our stereotype
But she's 6’5
She must play basketball right?
with a GPA of 1.9 and a drunken mother who cannot drive
because of her numerous DUI’s
That is what you see when you look at us right?
what you don’t know is
She has a GPA of 4.5
Her mom has never gotten a DUI
She's not LOUD she's actually shy
She's never touched a basketball in her life
Sticks and Stones may break my bones
But words will never hurt me
Lies and Hypocrisy
have taken the place of air in this “democracy”
Watch your words
our souls are what they they shatter
don’t be a menace to society
keep in mind that black lives matter
