Aisling
i saw
the beginnings
of an infinite sun-shower
just hidden
today
in the laugh lines of your eyes
so let's walk a little farther
and you can take me
to that damp
green forest
where willows
keep their tears quiet
bent over in stifled pain
i
will put my hands on the bark
and heal them
caressing
i
will offer up a prayer
intercessions
for the sorrows of the myrrh
perhaps then her father will forgive her
and beauty
will again hover silent
breathless
in her womb
you've filled me with words
a stór
they quiver
brimful and light
pure
on the tip of your tongue
and escape playful
as poetry
with every kiss i steal
tranquil
easy and soft
i
will whisper them back to you
if you trust me
mo ghra
and take me to that crying
place
in your heart
i know it's there
and let me squeeze it
in my own two hands
so small
i know
they can scarcely hold you
you give me my songs
darling
my history
sad
wandering
but i swear to you
and hopeful
i will breathe it back
into your soul
you'll cry then
gently
i think
and birth will be
the strength to live
