Dear Bri
Dear Bri
If I could tell you something, anything I wanted, I’d tell you to be alive,
focus on your life, the relationships and not on your homework hardships
forget about that math worksheet, forget about that AP five.
You have spent so much of your time worrying and wondering if it will all pay off,
working so hard believing that your dreams won’t come true, but I wish you could have been there for your sister’s college send-off.
You have spent so much time waiting and contemplating if you had done enough
and trust me you did, but I wish you could have been there before Grandpa’s death because not saying goodbye was really tough.
I wish I could tell you to stop striving to be a clone,
forget about who your sister and brother are because no one likes a copycat,
focus on your interests and hobbies and you can truthfully claim yourself as your own.
I wish you had been more alive and less willing to study from that workbook,
it may have helped you now, but would it have hurt to say I want to go out today,
one day you’ll wish that you could have seen the world outside of a history textbook.
I just wanted you to have fun, in the sun and rock your swimming pool messy bun.
I just wanted you to live more, open that front door and play in the rain as it pours.
I just wanted you to hangout with your friends, play pretend, and not fear the end.
Because the end is a happy place you would love to see,
a place where none of this will matter,
a place where you can find me.
Sincerely, Bri
