In The Wake of The Door's Slam
I recall the last time
the ocean’s wave
punched the stresspoint
in the shoreline.
Left a sharp crack
in the land and retreated.
Wonder to myself why
the entryway shut itself off with a slam
and you did so with eyes that glossed opaque.
Post-your leaving,
in echoes
of the swivel of a door-hinge and its close
I give the manila walls a numb stare:
the indented ridges
where the bricks are pressed together,
dips that pockmark the paint too akin
to the unspoken words left corroding my tongue.
