Why I Like the Rain
Teardrops
slip
from heaven's sobbing angels, and
land
on my window screen,
It reminds me
that even the most radiant creatures
leak little liquid
dewdrops.
I like it when it rains.
I like the darkness that doesn't
hurt
my eyes-
they're still adjusting.
And as I cry, it seems to me
the whole world feels
the same.
Each speck
that impacts my body is as a
perpetual pat
to hush my anger and
put me to sleep.
The water cleanses
the infections that life
seeps
into our skin-
my intoxicated organs
are finally able to
breathe
and inhale
the refreshed air.
And as I
sniff
the untainted breeze,
I am put in reverie,
and can finally
flee
from all life's pain.
