The Palm Of The World
Dear Mr. Gustav,
There is a city that sits in the palm of the World
And the Universe is its hand
Languages of the world sing the city’s sound
While life whirls about in the hand
People come together in the palm as one
To see the marvels we call our world
Teaching one another the tongue of their people
As streets pass us by and cars rumble underground
There’re so many opportunities in the palm of this hand
But the Universe is my hand
Sincerely,
Lobby Boy

My older sister, had asked me to write her something on a road trip I was on with my friend on the east coast of the US. It was a really hard roadtrip because it was like my friend was a shell not even truly living. So, when I was gone, my sister had told me to watch "The Grand Budapest Hotel" to cheer up my mood. Which, it did.
This poem is for her and is written like a poem that would have been said in the movie. Since, Mr. Gustav was always randomly blurting out poetry throughout the film. It is describing what it is like to be a tourist walking, aimlessly, around in July in DC.
