Taking On The Nation
My feet take the volleyball court confidently in Orlando.
My hands touch the slippery ball before I serve.
My body tumbling left and right mid-air
as I finally reach the hard ground to save defensive plays.
My heart beating like drums,
trying to catch my breath.
I taste the humid air that surrounds me.
Daring, Legacy Volleyball bound to win the fight.
Timid, nervous, anxious to win,
pacing back and forth.
Determined to bring my opponents down.
Sweat drips off me as I sprint to the huddle,
in the huddle my coach Doogie says,
“I can’t make you win, you have to want to win.”
Fighting, fighting, fighting for every point.
I hear cheers roar from the stands after each point.
Underestimated by opponents and parents,
but still giving it my all.
No one thought my team and I would do this good.
Proud to earn 3rd in the nation for volleyball.

Volleyball is a big part of my life and who I am. Volleyball inspires me to a better player, student, and person. I hope that everyone has something as special or life-changing as volleyball is for me. These special activities are key to who we are.
