Maycomb County
Maycomb County is a loving community
Where everyone gets along and loves each other
Maycomb County is a kind community
Where they help the elders and those in need
Maycomb County is a friendly community
Where they welcome anyone with a kind smile on their face
Yet, Maycomb County is a corrupt community
Where hatred begins to seek into the hearts of all
The friendliness vanishes as quickly as shade
And people turn on each other even quicker
Where racism blooms, and violence becomes okay
When it is ok to hurt those who are different then them
Maycomb County is a hypocritical community
When they say one thing and do something else
“We are Christians,” they say, “and we love everyone”
Yet they slander their neighbors, their fellow brothers
Say kind things to their face with a knife hidden behind their backs
Maycomb County is not a community at all
It is an illusion, just a trick to the eye
But don’t tell anyone for it is a secret
That this is the heart of Maycomb County
