Personal Red
Color in our infinitely contrasted veins.
Even when the sullenly resentful fire that permanently resides in your eyes lights itself again,
Does the enkindled numbing air constricting your conscience
Remind you of the crimson broken mirrors that are so kind as to show you what you've become to me?
You refuse to believe poison truths,
Watching with feigned denial as their reflections reveal
Wives' regretful sorrow; children's wishes halfway granted;
Too much adoration, you see
You use my soul;
As continual sacrifice to be a battered pawn in finding the Devil
In the person I once knew so well;
For he enters your mouth when you speak.
If you are bound to rage's name,
Make my lasting pain bitter sweet like dark chocolate,
So when I go; tear myself away,
I'll irrevocably understand
That bravado in your love
Does not exist.
