Mannequin Love
I'm not interested in the
truth anymore
the truth
is a simple way of stating
the lack of caring
that exists in the world
everybody wants
a pretty face
a disguise
a mask
a statue to caress
a mannequin to hold hands with
solid and cold
nobody wants to
hold together
trembling lips and fingertips
warming
with body heat
clutching sweaty hands
feeling chests
a pulse
beating beneath layers
what matters most
lies within
cherished
by flesh
protected
by skin
pounding pleading
to be reached
don't tell me the
truth
I don't care
I want to believe my fantasy
I want to believe that
someday
somehow
someone
will have the audacity to
reach
for me.
