the wait
At this very moment
if it were possible
I would wrap around you
like you're the last bit of warmth
left on Earth
collapse every inch of myself
against your skin
At this very moment
I would bury my face in your neck
and breathe in the heat
and feel your light
hit my closed eyelids
if only I could
When you return
my dear
could you love
would you love
my frantically clinging arms?
and warm my numb fingers,
so long absent
from your touch?
Would you pretend
you heard me sing
my song?
Would you think
you heard me say
stay, stay, stay?
Forgive me
that is not the case
I never meant to make you stay
my desperate arms will know
that I would simply follow
I just wish you could
take me with you
when you go
Just a 19 sets and rises,
and you'll be back
and I'll be kissing you
and the missing you
will subside
So while you're gone
remember,
being upset will get
you no closer to home
There is no rush
no reason to push,
I'll be right here
with open arms
waiting to warm
the coldness you've become
And my God
when you smile,
I will gladly fall apart
at your feet
and let you know
you are worth the wait
