Silence is shattering
Hurricanes arriving makes us scared, but what about before the storm?
Rain in a light drizzle.
Lightning crashing, thunder bellowing.
A cacophony of noise and sound,then
silence.
Silence shatters. Silence is shattering.
The calm before the storm deafens, the loudest noise of all.
A woman cries, then
silence.
Bullets fly, then
silence.
Screams and shouts, then
silence.
Silence is shattering.
Laughter ceases and we wonder why.
Within a moment the silence fades but still, a hand wavers over the big red button,
ready to call back a weapon more powerful than any voice.
The calm before the storm brings dread.
Hearts stop;
voices hush;
everything afraid to break something so sacred.
Then, a pin drops.
