The Seventeenth of December
Every sunrise was plain without purpose
I would paint my lips with empty action
Hesitant to live, I existed instead
My system protected with electric fences
And warships guarded my isolation
I invited the end
Infiltrated without alarm, I observed
You digging from under the mile high walls
And cracking the foundation so the concrete tumbled
Resulting in rubble and overwhelming light
I saw colour
I lived in shadow, in safety of the dark
But in the forest fire you caused, life could grow anew
With beauty and passion instilled in your eyes
They ignited the fire my demons had once taken
Now I do no need a manufactured high to feel
