Winter Nights

Do rivers run flowing amidst winter’s freezing cold slumber?
I look upon the riverbed to see the Earth embellished with stones
The land engulfed in darkness; ice creeping, the land as I wonder
How Mother Nature’s beautiful weapon chills me in my bones
Within the apex of twilight suddenly echoes a sound of thunder
And we usher not its fury but instead welcome Father Winter’s new throne

These thoughts I do ponder under the moon’s luminescent light
Cradled together, warm and cozy, with every family member
Outside a ghastly wind and a frosty howl with no end in sight
While listening to the crackle of the dancing fire’s ember
The flame aglow meets the white of snow and forges our winter nights
For these combined leads light to shine and one just whispers December

What can you imagine? What do you think when you hear the word December? This was my take on it.
