Stealing candy, writing on walls
"Borrowing" mommy's makeup and cutting my hair
Daddy is there
To protect me from myself.

10 years old
Running wild, falling in mud
Getting in fights, climbing trees, and getting my bare feet stung
Mommy is there
To remind me to be careful.

13 years old
Losing friends, falling for guys
Starting to learn things that I shouldn't have to know
Mommy, where are you
To remind me to be careful?

15 years old
Sleeping all day, hurting myself
Losing my hope, and learning what lonely means
Daddy, where are you
To protect me from myself?
