When I Look at You, I See Colors
When you laugh, I see orange.
But not just any orange--
The orange that makes the Gods above jealous
that they couldn’t create fruit as splendid as your laughter.
The orange that makes even the most brilliant of fires
look paled in comparison to you.
When you smile, I see yellow.
But not just any yellow--
The yellow that brings light into the darkest of places,
filling every last corner until I’m no longer afraid of the dark.
The yellow that could outshine the sun,
even on a cloudless day in the middle of July.
When you cry, I see blue.
But not just any blue--
The blue that destroys more than a violent hurricane
tearing down everything in its path.
The blue that puts frozen glaciers and ice caps to shame
when tears fall down your face.
When you yell, I see red.
But not just any red--
The red so hot it could boil my blood
when I am the one you are angry with.
The red so fierce that no volcanic eruption could ever compare
to the intensity of you.
When I look at you, I see colors.
But not just any colors--
I see the colors that make up my rainbow and fill my life.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
