The Last Leaf
“There it goes.” the girls whispers.
“Yep, the day has come.” Grandpa choked.
“It was a beautiful tree.” said the girl.
Grandpa replied, “She sure was.”
Sea blue eyes.
A sweet smile, filled with joy.
A small red kitchen filled with grandma singing,
“patty cake, patty cake.”
Love. Laugh. Lived.
Hands interlocked, grandpa guides the girl home.
Grandpa turns to take one last look.
“I love you,” he tells the tree.
