I Made Mountains For You
Earth said to Sky, “I made mountains for you,
so that I can be closer to your heavens.”.
“And I, oh I made rain to fill your oceans
and quench your thirst.” Sky responded.
The two met at the point where the ground becomes atmosphere,
but yet they longed for so much more.
“Why do you fade to darkness with each coming night, my love?” asked Earth.
“The sun, oh the sun tries to steal you from me.
She covers you with warmth and brightness,
and I, oh I get jealous of the way she shines upon you,
so I cast her away.” Sky explained.
Earth paused, taken aback,
for he needed the sun to live.
Then he answered, “The sun makes my trees grow,
and they grow closer to you.
The sun makes the world bright,
so that I can see you.
The sun makes you fill with the most brilliant of colors,
reds, yellows, oranges, pinks, and purples.
The sun helps me to love you.”
