Leaves MAG
i am born with the leaves
each spring i
rest my tattered wings
and crawl out of my crystallized
chrysanthemum shell,
greeting the open air with my
newborn barbaric eyes
and i scream sing songs on high
of meadows
and bombastic sighs
and lovers who embrace in
slivers of moonlight before
slipping away to unknown
scourges.
dappled on my thighs
are the freckles of unfurling
daffodil petals and their
wishy washy dandelion cousins who make
promises that fade with the wind’s warm breath
