The Final Stretch
Fleeting fast, formative years are gone.
As children we start with blocks,
Yet now, we are finishing with paper in hand.
Waiting for the last roll call.
You jump, it's your turn.
With sweaty palms, unnerving thoughts… nausea,
People clap and cheer!
Unfortunately, you hear no-one.
On stage, in cap and gown,
Anxious body underneath quivers.
Finally the handshake of relief,
We’ve made it.
