sparkling
i chase away
the dream
clinging to my
tangled lashes
like a cobweb
and stare clear
through the cloud
of stardust,
through the
tattered curtain
and i understand now why
my mother told me
it was
dangerous
to love you
like i do
because you have
different faces -
because you love
different people, in
different ways
and loving you
means that i
take the lines
of your life
and i twist them
without you
knowing,
until i hear the sweet
crackings of your voice
pressed close
against me
when all else
in my head
should be empty
