Stop and Just Listen
I had heard the sound of a piano,
I had to stop and listen.
I had my attention to the softness, the notes and lyrics,
to read, analyze, and perfectly sing them.
I had stood up and taken a deep breath every note pressed by my teacher.
Now drained and restless,
Till every breath I take,
I walked out of the room.
I pulled out my headphones, and listened,
And listened to the beautiful song that filled my ears with joy.
Not thinking or wandering,
Just listening.

I was inspired by the poem "When I Heard the Learned Astronomer" By Walt Whitman. His poem is saying that you can learn things many ways and that you have to really explore life. In my poem I was trying to do the same thing because when you listen to something people are so quick to judge it or know what its about, they never just stop and listen to what they are hearing.
