Escape
You haven't seen the storm stained meadow
after an overwhelming day.
You haven't felt the misted air
heavy on your skin.
You've never seen the red brush
against a grey sky,
the way it flames and scorches.
the earth with its emmense vibrancy.
You've never heard the stillness
of the season's first snow
a day before the winter dawns.
You've never seen delicate beasts
weather the rain, the beads catching
in their long eyelashes,
their small hooves thumping against the soft ground.
You've never felt the peace of the world slowing down.
