The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change-Carl Rogers

Have the stars ever whispered in your ear?
I lay there on nights
Limp against roof
Eyes to the void
Mind to my life
Yet too blind to hear
Has your heart wept for change deep inside?
The heavens above
Dark, sweet accord
“I must halt this path”
Destiny speaks
Tears suddenly free
I can’t change in spite
Have you stepped to the edge of this life all alone?
Thoughts black as night
Rage starts to sting
“How can I be here”
Protesting fate
“I’ve lost everything”
Foot to the edge
Family in heart
“No”, a soft whisper
The stars urge me home

Have you ever looked into the depths of death itself and stepped forward? Do you feel hope when your eyes lift heavenward at the stars? Can the this fledling hope make you realize how much you have to live for? This poem embodies the very struggle for life itself and the courage to step back from the void.
