Love; Old & New
“Grandpa? Can you explain something to me?” The 5 year old says.
“Of course! What do you want to know?”
“What’s love?”
Grandpa thinks for awhile. “Well,” he says eventually, “There’s different kinds of love.”
“I don’t understand…”
Grandpa continues. “You can love something simple. You can love pizza, you can love your dog, and you can love your friends. Then there is a love that is more complicated than that.” the boy looked confused, but grandpa keeps talking. “This kind of love is complicated, confusing, and messy. It can make you be the happiest in the world, while it can also make you the saddest at times. When you find this love, hold on to it, and never let it go.” The boy doesn’t seem to have heard a word of the wise wisdom of grandpa.
“Grandpa” the boy starts, “I love you more than pizza.”
