Be Not Afraid
A journey through time, a step into the past
finds me as a child, like a ship with no mast
I stepped into shoes that were too cramped to wear
but these weights prolong as my burden to bear
the conflict, the hope, the dreams dashed in two
the memories unfolding, they flood me with doom
but a closer inspection brings light to my eyes
a calm in the storm that I so despise
I can do it! I've been there!
Why be so afraid?
The power is in me to challenge my state
these dark things, so crippling, I soon will raze
I'll plunge through the night, countenance unfazed
stay strong now, warrior, pick up some grit
this life you've endured must not be your crypt
