The Spire
A spire stretches above
the night time city, a beacon,
as cars roll by like voices
in gentle harmony.
A million eyes carelessly trace
its familiar figure
and millions more look through it
in search of the extraordinary.
The notes spring forth
from exhaust pipes and engines
as the song crescendoes
in a brash cacophany.
Meanwhile, the spire
watches, then listens,
and attempts to conduct
an unruly symphony.

The spire is meant to represent some higher power. For me, that's God, but it can be interpreted in other ways.
