In Your Words
you wrote me worlds-
fading bleeding lines on gray-smudged paper
you wrote a breathing sky of slick ink
dark beautiful language dripping from your exhilarated, proud hands
you wrote a universe into existence
just for me
just for us.
you left and the words went with you
dry ink on dry paper crumpling under my hands
i try to blame myself
i cannot reconcile your lovely deadly words
with barren paper
with you not there.
so i write
to you and to us
dark violent language dripping from my exhilarated despairing hands
we were so similar
we are so far apart
you wrote me worlds.
