The Effort in Diabetes
It's not enough
The effort put forward to take care of myself
The doctors see me as a slacker
My teachers see me as defiant
My friends see me as careless
My effort, to take control of this "manageable" disease will never be enough
The effort it takes to stab myself everyday
It's not enough
The effort it takes to pierce my body for survival
It's not enough
The effort it takes to go to sleep because my mind is consumed of fear that I won't make it to the next morning
It's not enough
The effort it takes to put on an brave face
It's not enough
The effort it takes to turn the other cheek when someone makes a hurtful joke
It's not enough
The effort it takes to have courage when all else fails
It's not enough
The effort it takes to stand up to this tiring disease
It's not enough
The effort it takes to stand by a watch diabetes consume all of my time
It's not enough
It's never enough
But Diabetes will never win, because one thing is for sure,
Diabetes isn't enough to stop me.
