Broken Bridges
Hope and happiness and
bridges, cracking and
crumbling.
Falling into despair
before one
can even respond.
Tears and triumph and
memories, falling and
hitting the water.
He said
"I love you"
that fateful day on the bridge.
And before I could respond,
his eyes fell on another
and I knew
we were history.
She was
a new girl,
a new victim,
a new object,
soon to be discarded
and cast aside.
Not knowing how
the sweet,
handsome,
man could ever be
so horrible.
Only he knows
how she'll end up,
hopefully better
than me.
Broken
and hopeless,
missing just a
little bit too much
of her heart.
